Merry Christmas Tessellation Poster

Poster Design: Tessellations and Visual Construction
Our task involved creating a multi-layered geometrical composition using tessellation and showcasing how the work of Delta influenced our own design. Additionally, we were required to highlight the tessellation techniques employed in the process.

Boris Tellegen, known as Delta, is a visual artist specializing in graffiti painting. His visually spectacular work redefines traditional visual art and transforms the graffiti genre by introducing an abstract and architectural style to the streets, even in the illicit context of street painting.
For my version of tessellation, I have decided to work on a Christmas event poster. As the key visual, I have decided to use a Christmas tree which is widely known. In the first exploration (left), I decided to use cubes/cuboids stacked on top of one another to create the tree. However, I felt that the tessellation was not exemplified and I decided to do a second exploration (right) where I made use of 2D(flat shapes) and 3D(cubes/cuboids) to improve the composition.
Colour Scheme
In terms of colour exploration, below are me references where I decided to work with 2 distinct colours which can usually be seen during the festival. Mainly yellow monochromatic & red monochromatic.
I thought in depth about the things in relation to Christmas. There are namely present giving, Christmas carols and Christmas food (Turkey, log cake, etc.). With that, I thought perhaps I could merge the idea of presents into my poster design. Furthermore, Christmas is the season of giving and surprises. I started researching on unwrapping presents to see the tearing effect, here are some references.
